Girlguiding Dundee hosted a silent disco at Douglas Sports Centre for its members on Sunday March 10 to raise funds for its outdoor centre in Newbigging.

More than 400 young girls and their leaders from across the county attended the event and helped to raise a whopping £1,132 between them.

A total of £30,000 is needed to undertake an urgent renovation project in the entrance hall of the outdoor centre, which is used by members all year round. The silent disco takes the fundraising total to more than £9,100, with several other fundraisers planned throughout the year.

Organiser Claire Gault said: “It was great to see so many girls and leaders enjoying themselves. The synchronised dancing to the macarena and baby shark were brilliant to watch!

“We were amazed at the number of people who booked tickets and are so grateful to them for helping to get our fundraising total to just over £9,000! We’ve still some way to go to reach our £30,000 target, but we are well on our way.”
