Newbigging Bins and Recycling

Our bins are collected by Perth and Kinross council so we must follow their recycling guidance.

  • Blue lidded bin – paper and cardboard. More info: https://www.pkc.gov.uk/bluebin

  • Grey lidded bin – metal and plastic (including soft plastic). More info: https://www.pkc.gov.uk/greybin

  • Green lidded bin – general waste. NO waste electrical items, batteries or vapes – these must be taken away with you (Newbigging is a no vaping site).

  •

  • Newbigging has to pay a penalty of £21 (per bin affected) if there are inappropriate items in the recycling bins (e.g. non recyclable items in the recycling, or plastic in the paper bin). This will be passed on to users so please place your rubbish in the correct bins. As per the leaving checklist, users should check the bins before leaving the site.

There is a litter picker in the house porch and in the wet weather porch to help you remove any erroneous items. House / camp checkers will be looking in the bins to check for contamination – if there are wrong items in the bin you will be contacted to give you the chance to return and sort out the bins, or pay the charge. Checkers will not remove rubbish for you!

Bins are not emptied every week but will be checked after every event – Bin Big Brother is watching you.

We have no glass or food waste recycling on site. The closest glass recycling bins are in Coupar Angus (near the medical centre or near the large Coop) or the car park at Tesco in Blairgowrie. Food waste should be taken away or placed in the general waste.
