Jennie's Craft Badge

We produced this craft challenge badge and pack in memory of our friend, Jennie.  The crafts are linked to Dundee and the Nine Incorporated Trades.  Have a look at some of the crafts that units have created as part of the challenge.

What units are doing towards Jennie's craft badge

"1st Muirhead Rainbows & 2nd Muirhead Brownies designed our own tartan, making it by weaving paper on a kilt template (and adding a wee sporran for good measure) and we all wore a bit of tartan for our Burns night of fun, dancing and eating.

The Brownies ironed wax pellets on to Dundee tartan to make Wax Wraps. We talked about Dundee landmarks, made massive murals of these places and had fun making models of them out of packing peanuts, playdoh, Lego and Jenga blocks. We made marmalade-scented soap, with extra dried orange peel for effect and decoupaged boxes with Beano and Oor Willie comics to put our soap bars in. We wrapped these up with lengths of jute. Thus making a Jute, Jam and Journalism present for loved ones.

We learned about the 9 trades of Dundee, laughing at names like cordiners and fleshers. Using the comics and shoe templates we made Mother’s Day cards  (cordiners!!) and for Easter we became bonnet makers."

Kirkcaldy Trefoil enjoyed home-made Dundee cake.
